What feature matters least for comparing P2P apps and services?

I’m trying to figure out the most and least critical features for comparing peer-to-peer (P2P) apps and services but got confused about which aspects are less important. Can someone clarify or share some insights?

Honestly?? The least critical feature when comparing P2P apps kinda depends on your use case, but if I had to call one out: App design/theme. Hear me out—yeah, it’s nice if an app looks slick or has that ~trendy vibe~ but at the end of the day, you’re transferring MONEY, not trying to win a UX design award. A flashy gradient or minimalist icons won’t save you if the app has hidden fees or, god forbid, sucks at security.

I’ve legit seen people hyping P2P apps based on how “easy” they feel to use (which, fair, user experience is important), but like, would you trust an ATM that was sparkly and pretty but barely worked? Noooope. So unless this is your first rodeo with tech, skip the hype and focus on the real deal: fees, security, speed of transfers, supported platforms. Let the artsy junk be a bonus at best.

But if anyone’s out here really letting app design make their decisions for them, I have questions.

Design and theme? Meh. I’ll agree with @suenodelbosque on that being pretty low on the priority list. BUT I’d also throw social features into the “who cares” category for most P2P users. Like, do you really need an in-app feed showing who paid who for pizza last night? Or emoji reactions on transactions? Cool if you’re splitting bills with roommates, I guess, but for most people, it’s superficial fluff.

Look, payments apps aren’t social media. The whole point is speed, security, low (or no) fees, and reliability. If a P2P app invests more time in making it “fun” than secure, you might wanna look elsewhere. Sure, nobody’s gonna argue that a clean, intuitive interface isn’t helpful—but extra gimmicks? Not crucial. You’re not there to make friends; you’re there to pay. So yeah, pretty iconography and social bells and whistles won’t stop me from cancelling the app if it’s overpriced or takes forever to process transfers.

Also side note: if people are truly basing their entire choice on aesthetics, I’d assume they’ve never dealt with buggy apps losing their money mid-transfer, or sketchy services with zero customer support. Like, cute app doesn’t mean SAFE app. Let’s keep priorities straight.
