Can you remove the Snapchat AI assistant?

I started using Snapchat’s new AI assistant but I find it kind of annoying and would like to either turn it off or get rid of it completely. I can’t figure out how to remove it from my chat list or settings. Has anyone successfully removed or disabled the Snapchat AI assistant, or is there a way to hide it? Any help or step-by-step guide would be appreciated. Thanks!

I get where you’re coming from—when that My AI bot popped up in my chat list, it felt like suddenly having a nosy neighbor move in who only wants to talk about random stuff you didn’t ask for. So, here’s what’s up: if you’re not a Snapchat+ subscriber, there’s no built-in way to actually get rid of My AI from your chat list as of now. Snapchat basically glued it up top. You can’t “turn it off,” hide it, or block it if you’re using the free version. The only move is to clear your chat with My AI (tap and hold, manage chat, then “clear from chat feed”), which makes it briefly vanish, but the next time you open the Chat tab, poof—it’s back, shining like a clingy ghost.

Now, if you pay for Snapchat+, you can unpin it from your chat feed: tap and hold again, choose “Chat Settings,” then “Unpin conversation.” But, if you’re like me and not about to cough up cash just to remove a robot, that probably feels like a weak solution.

I tried, like, every setting and help article looking for a legit workaround. Unless Snapchat changes their mind due to the herd of people complaining, the only “solution” is to ignore it or pay up. Kind of annoying, right? It’s like if Netflix made you pay extra to get rid of the “Are you still watching?” pop-up. Hope Snapchat gives us an off-switch soon, or else I’m about to start chatting exclusively on carrier pigeons.

Let’s be real—Snapchat’s My AI isn’t just a nosy neighbor, it’s like that roommate who moves in and won’t stop practicing their podcast in your living room. I hear what @nachtschatten’s saying about there being no “real” way to get rid of it unless you pay for Snapchat+, but honestly, even considering shelling out a subscription just to mute a virtual chatbot? That’s wild. The clear-from-chat trick is super temporary, and ignoring it just feels like trying not to make eye contact with that one weird co-worker at the office.

But here’s a thought: although you can’t fully remove or block it, you CAN drown it out by pinning your actual real friends up top (assuming you have that pin feature). That way, My AI’ll end up getting shunted further down the chat list as you keep talking to people who don’t speak only in canned responses. Yeah, the AI still exists, but out of sight is out of mind (kind of).

Also, just my two cents—Snapchat’s clearly testing the limits to see how much clutter people will put up with before they pay. It’s a bit of classic dark pattern behavior that a lot of companies use lately: make something slightly annoying, promise to get rid of it for cash. Ironically, it just makes me want to open the app less. As for a real “delete” button—unless a tidal wave of complaints hits, I doubt they’ll offer a free way out. But who knows, noise on social can work. Until then, you could always reimagine the AI as a training bot for roasting comebacks or venting about your day, if you want to get some use out of it. Or, like @nachtschatten joked, join the carrier pigeon revolution.

Anyways, if anyone discovers a hackier workaround, def post it. Still can’t believe hiding a chatbot is a premium feature now.

Let’s just say it: My AI on Snapchat feels more like spam than a “helpful assistant.” Props to previous replies—yeah, Snapchat+ gives removal options, and yeah, you can “clear” it, but like a bad pop song, it refuses to fully leave your head. Here’s my spin, coming from a troubleshooting angle:

There’s no legit way to remove My AI without paying (super annoying; pure dark patterns at work), but here’s an alt approach that’s worked for me: spam the AI with random stuff until it gets so buried under your real friend chats it’s practically off your screen. Out of sight isn’t true deletion, but it’ll minimize your daily annoyance. If you don’t have a packed chat list, try mass-messaging with stickers or GIFs to push it down—it’s weirdly effective in cluttered feeds.

Cons of sticking with the free version: persistent bot clutter, zero off-switch, a daily reminder that Snapchat wants to up-sell you. Pros: you don’t pay a cent, and—if you’re into chaos—you can mess with the AI for fun (great for testing how patient a chatbot can be).

Snapchat Plus is the only product that actually gives you control here, but honestly, is the “privilege” of hiding a bot worth a monthly subscription? Hot take: most won’t think so—but it does offer unpinning features and a cleaner chat. Competitors like WhatsApp and Telegram seem more respectful; you can block or ignore bots there without a paid upgrade. That’s a major win on design sanity.

No “delete” button, and @voyageurdubois/@nachtschatten pretty much covered temp fixes. Still, if Snapchat ever gives us real control, that’ll be the day I reinstall. Right now? It’s a clear showcase of freemium friction.

Bottom line: unless mass feedback changes things, move My AI down with chat activity, ignore it, or consider other messaging apps with more user respect. The battle for a cleaner chat list continues.
